کون؟ ٱس نے خوف کے عالم سے منہ میں کہا۔

رات ہونے کو تھی اور وه ڈرا ہوا کمرے میں بیٹھا تھا. گھر پر کوئی نا تھا۔ اسفندیار کی ماما صبیحہ بیگم کسی کی فوتگی پر گئی تھی جو کہ ابھی تک گھر نا آئیں تھیں. وه ڈرا سہما کمرے میں بیٹھا اپنی ماما کا انتظار کر رہا تھا.

اسفندیار کے پاپا کافی عرصے سے باہر کے ملک میں تھے اور وه جاب کی وجہ سے دو تین سال بعد پاکستان کا چکر لگاتے تھے. وه اپنے ماں باپ کا اکلوتا اور نہایت لاڈلا بیٹا تھا. دادو کی تو جیسے وه جان تھا. دادو کی وفات کے بعد وه کافی اکیلا محسوس کرتا تھا. جب گھر پر کوئی نا ہوتا تو اکثر وه ڈر جایا کرتا تھا. 

آج بھی کچھ اسی طرح کی صورتِ حال تھی. اسفندیار کسی کے قدموں کی آہٹ سن کر کمرے سے باہر نکلا. اُس نے دیکھا تو وہاں کوئی نہ تھا. وه ڈرتا ہوا واپس کمرے میں چلا گیا. رات ہو چکی تھی اور وه مسلسل اپنی ماما کو کالز کر رہا تھا پر وه فون نہیں ٱٹھا رہیں تھیں. 

اچانک تیز ہوا کی لہر آئی اور بند کھڑکی یک دم کُھل گئی. وه گھبرایا اور کانپتے جسم کے ساتھ کمبل میں منہ چھپا لیا. اُسے کمرے میں کسی کی موجودگی کا احساس ہوا اور اُس نے بند آنکھوں کو مزید زور سے بند کیا. وه ڈر اور وحشت کی وجہ سے مسلسل کانپ رہا تھا. کوئی اس کی طرف بڑھ رہا ہے وه محسوس کر رہا تھا.
